PALAMIDI

Palamidi is a fortress in Nafplion which was built in 1687 by the Venetians, after the capture of the hill on which it is located, after a fierce battle with the Ottomans during the Venetian-Turkish War. The hill on which is located a height 216 meters and climb Palamidi done either via bodied road either via a staircase with many steps (listed as 999 steps). Access to the castle is made either via the road on the east side of the city, or through the 999 stairs on the northwest side of town on the road to Acronafplia.
